The history of establishing a sculpture park off the beaten track is told with photographs and in texts. At Wanås art, nature and history belongs together. Contemporary art, a medieval castle and an organic milkfarm creates a unique combination. The publication gathers perspectives and points of departures over 25 years, 1987-2012. Founder Marika Wachtmeister describes long collaborations and a selection of art works. In an interview by Patrick Amsellem, Director of Skissernas museum |Museum of Public Art in Lund, she tells the story of how the exhibitions started out as a garage project and turned into an art establishment and how the site in the Scanian beech wood has been transformed by international artists to a venue for contemporary art. The artists Ann Hamilton and Ann-Sofi Sidén give insighs into their art projects at Wanås. Griselda Pollock, professor in art history writes on the exhibitions with a focus on women artists. Elisabeth Millqvist. Co-director and artistic director since 2011 writes on new visions and the most recent art projects. The texts looks in depth at Wanås history and future as it follows the art over changing seasons in a richly illustrated publication.
